Wee Work provides holiday cheer for Roy Drachman Clubhouse | Community Spirit

For the second year in a row, the non-profit group Wee Work, brought a little holiday cheer to over 150 members of the Roy Drachman Boys & Girls Clubhouse.
The Wee Work crew is a group of 50 kids ranging in age from 5 to 18 and their parents. Wee Work is a non-profit group that believes that exposure to community service at a young age means the children are more likely to continue to volunteer as an adult.
The December 13th holiday party involved not only a homemade pasta dinner, but music, dancing and game playing as well. Each club member got a new board game as a present, and during the party, blankets were laid out and club members stretched out to play Monopoly, Scrabble, and Battleship just to name a few, with the Wee Work crew.
Amy Geile and Kristen Littell, co-founders of Wee Work came up with the idea of the group to provide families a way to volunteer together and teach their children the importance of giving back to those in need. The adults in the group model their philanthropic behavior for the younger members, to help foster the next generation of humanitarians and community leaders.
“We feel that hands on work will have the most impact in developing children into compassionate young adults,” said Littell, in a recent news release. “We love doing this special event for the kids at the Boys & Girls Clubs. Wee Work kids and the Club Members instantly hit it off and spend the evening playing games, eating dinner, laughing, dancing and bonding. It’s just a fun time for everyone. We have already made plans to have another holiday party for the Clubs in 2013,” noted Geile in the same release.
Wee Work threw this holiday party for the Roy Drachman Boys & Girls Clubhouse, because in this tough economy the first thing to go for many programs was the holiday party.
In a recent news release, Lorraine Morgan, Vice President of Communications and Fund Development for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson, “We are fortunate to have community support from great organizations like Wee Work, who understand how important holiday celebrations are. Every kid should have a gift and a party at this time of year. Fortunately, due to the generosity of Amy, Kristen and the other Wee Work families, our Roy Drachman Clubhouse kids had this great experience.”
