Donate food and reduce library fines during Food for Fines April 9-14 | Community Spirit
Title (Max 100 Characters)
You can donate nonperishable food items to the Pima County Public Library during 'Food for Fines' week April 9-14. You can reduce your library account and donate to a worthy cause at the same time. Food for Fines raised over 11,422 food items in 2011 and would love to reach and exceed that goal for 2012.
For each nonperishable item that is donated by a patron, a $1 will be deducted from their account, up to ten items (for a $10 maximum fine reduction.) All library branches are joining in. Donated food will be distributed to the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona and its affiliates in Ajo, Arivaca, Catalina, Green Valley and Marana.
Only overdue fines will be waived, patrons are still responsible for other library fines and fees, like lost or damaged materials. For patrons with no fines, they can have up to a $10 credit put toward their account.
Participants are reminded that glass containers of food, pre-opened items and expired food are not eligible for donation.
