Living Social to host job fair for call center jobs | Business

Living Social will be hosting a job fair for a new call center it plans to start here in Tucson.

Applicants are encouraged to apply ahead of time at www.livingsocial.com/jobs. Those who applied ahead of time will attend the fair on June 14.  The June 15 date will be when the job fair opens to the general public.

WHERE:  Tucson Marriott University Place (880 E. Second St.)

WHEN:  June 14 and 15 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Positions being filled at the job fair are:  full-time positions - customer service representative, customer service supervisor and office manager. In a process separate from the opening of the call center the company also plans to hire a freelance copywriter, a technical support analyst and an account executive.

Tucson was chosen as the first call center site, due to it being one of the strongest 'deals markets' since the 2011 launch.  Among other draws were the tech-savvy community, large pool of customer service workers and relatively inexpensive real estate.

Here's a little bit more information on what LivingSocial does (so you know just what kind of company you might be working for):  the company partners with local merchants to promote interesting and usually discounted products and services. Under the company's group-buying model, consumers are encouraged to share deals on social media. The reduced prices are contingent upon a certain number of purchases. Merchants and LivingSocial then each get a share of the proceeds from buyers using the site.
