The Salsa y Salsa fiesta is funded through a small grant from the O’Brien Diversity Endowment to fund Connecting through Culture, which entails three cultural events taking place over the next twelve months at the Garden Kitchen.
The purpose of this project is to help develop closer ties between the U of A and the residents of South Tucson, as well as the residents of the surrounding community, through cultural events with a diversity theme.
Each upcoming event will involve music, dancing and a (healthy) food representing different cultures.
The inaugural event is Salsa y Salsa, which celebrates Latin culture. The second event will be in the fall of 2013 and will celebrate Native American culture. The final event will be in the spring of 2014 and will celebrate African culture.
