Pool-fence requirements vary around Pima County

Depending on when a home was built, a pool fence may not be required.

PIMA COUNTY, AZ (Tucson News Now)- A lot of questions have been raised after a 3-year-old girl drowned on Saturday on the northwest side.

The girl was at a party near West Cortaro Farms and North Oldfather roads in Pima County.

She had been missing for 15 minutes when she was found face-down in the pool. Firefighters say there was no fence around the pool.

In Pima County, residents with pools are required to have a 4-foot barrier around their pool. In Tucson, Oro Valley and Marana, homes with pools are required to have a 5-foot barrier.

Depending on when the homes were built, residents may be exempt from the ordinance.
