TUSD closer to naming a new superintendent

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now)- Happening today, TUSD has a special board meeting scheduled to announce the finalists for its new superintendent.

The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. tonight.

After the school board announces who the finalists to replace Dr. Pedicone are, there will be a public forum session to allow community members to meet them.

TUSD received nearly 70 applications for the job, of those about 85 percent were men and about half had some type of connection to Tucson or Arizona.

The top five candidates were interviewed several days ago, and the TUSD School Board is getting closer to naming a new superintendent.

Dr. Pedicone's resignation is effective at the end of the month, but he will remain the superintendent on an interim basis if the school board is unable to name his successor by then.
